Dr. Erin McGahey is an optometrist specializing in ocular disease management and low vision rehabilitation. She completed her Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry, graduating with honors. She completed her residency in ocular disease and low vision rehabilitation at the Birmingham Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
During her training, Dr. McGahey gained broad clinical experience across hospital, community, and specialty clinic settings. Her externships and rotations included advanced care in glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, cataracts, dry eye, and post-operative surgical management.
Dr. McGahey is actively involved in community outreach, having provided comprehensive vision care through UAB Eye Care, Western Health Center, and the Blackbelt Clinic, which brings optometric services to rural Alabama communities. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, Beta Sigma Kappa International Honor Society, and several other academic and professional organizations.
Dr. McGahey is dedicated to delivering compassionate, patient-centered eye care that helps preserve vision and enhance quality of life for patients of all ages. She sees patients downtown as well as our Gardendale and Trussville clinic locations.
