Dr. Deborah Blansett is an experienced optometrist with more than 25 years in clinical practice, specializing in comprehensive eye care and the management of ocular disease. She has extensive expertise in glaucoma treatment, diabetic retinopathy management, dry eye therapy, and perioperative care for cataract patients.
Dr. Blansett earned her Doctor of Optometry and Master of Science in Vision Science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Optometry. She went on to complete a residency in hospital-based optometry at the Tuscaloosa Veterans Administration Medical Center, where she gained advanced training in managing complex ocular disease cases in collaboration with other health professionals.
She later served as an Assistant Professor at the UAB School of Optometry, teaching in the primary care and ocular disease clinics and contributing to clinical research in glaucoma and dry eye. Dr. Blansett has also held leadership roles in private practice, including directing optometric recruiting and development.
She is board certified by the American Board of Optometry and is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Alabama Optometric Association. She sees patients in our convenient Tuscaloosa clinic location.
