What do you look forward to about training in the UAB Department of Neurology and/or UAB in general?
Halfway through my intern year, on a short-term basis, I am looking forward to learning every other day with the department of IM because, due to the magnitude of the patient load at the university hospital, every day is exciting, fulfilling, and humbling at the same time. In the more distant future, I look forward to reconnecting with my department’s people in PGY2 year as I navigate inpatient, stroke, and consult services and try to develop my approach to the fascinating breadth of neurological cases that trickle these services.
What do you like to do when you are not at work?
While I am not at work, I love to experiment with digital art, creating portraits of famous people reimagined to bring out the intricacies of their human nature that we all share. I also love to read nonfiction books. Currently, I am reading Trick Mirror by Jia Tolentino and have resonated a lot with the fresh perspective she offers effortlessly, which is liberating.
What was your first job?
My first job was as a postdoc research fellow at UAB in the Division of Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology (then called Memory Disorders) in the Department of Neurology.
What is one item on your bucket list?
One item on my bucket list is to complete my training in surfing.
