TEACH DOM Cohort 2025In February, the Department of Medicine launched TEACH DOM, welcoming six early-career clinicians to a curriculum aimed at strengthening both traditional and didactic teaching skills. Led by Drs. Stan Massie and Lisa Willett, the program focused on expanding participants’ versatility as educators, sharpening their ability to analyze clinical instruction, and fostering peer discussion around teaching challenges and best practices. Last week, the department celebrated the cohort’s successful completion. Congratulations to all participants.

Heersink Names 2024/2025 Multi-PI Awardees

Professors Amit Gaggar, M.D., Ph.D., and Timmy Lee, M.D., MSPH, received 2024-2025 UAB Heersink School of Medicine's Multi-PI Awards for their outstanding research efforts aimed at addressing critical health challenges in the fields of pulmonology and nephrology, respectively.

Titer, Heudebert Appointed to New Roles in Residency Program

Assistant Professors KeAndrea Titer, M.D., and Alonso Heudebert, M.D., were appointed to new roles in the residency program. Titer was selected as the new Medical Director of the Tinsley Harrison Service, and Heudebert will serve as the Associate Education Director.

Rizk Assumes Role as President of SSCI

This month, Dana Rizk, M.D., professor in Nephrology, begins her term as president of the Southern Society of Clinical Investigation, where she will work to advance medical research, encourage trainees to enter academic medicine, and support junior faculty success in clinical investigation.

Grammas Discusses Home Care on "Aging Uncensored" Podcast

Marianthe Grammas, M.D., associate professor in GGPC, joined LifeCare Solutions podcast, Aging Uncensored, to discuss the responsibilities of loved ones and the complexities of maintaining compassionate home care for aging adults.

On Wednesday, Jessica Thomas, MBA, Director of Finance, and Carolyn Walsh, MA, Administrative Director of Engagement, graduated from the UAB Healthcare Leadership Academy, a seven-month program designed to help individuals identify and strengthen leadership skills and capabilities.
