DOM Recognizes Outstanding Faculty and Staff
On Wednesday, nearly 200 employees gathered in the Margaret Cameron Spain Auditorium to celebrate 2024 DOM Recognition Day. The ceremony was kicked off by Interim Chair Dr. Mark Dransfield, who recognized individuals for their significant milestones achieved over the past year. Departmental leaders and division directors honored outstanding physicians, APPs, preceptors, teachers, investigators, and staff for their exceptional contributions.
Krick Named SSCI Mentor of the Year
Stephanie Krick, M.D., associate professor in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine, has been named the 2024 Southern Society for Clinical Investigation Mentor of the Year in the Student Category. The award celebrates her contribution to building the future of medicine as a wise and trusted advisor, positive role model, and source of encouragement. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition, Dr. Krick!
UAB Medicine and O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center Host 2024 Lung Cancer Update
Last week, UAB Medicine and the O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center hosted the 2024 UAB Lung Cancer Update. Healthcare professionals from across the country attended the two-day event to learn about the latest advances in lung cancer care through lectures, panel discussions, and patient testimonials. Faculty from UAB Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine shared updates on innovative therapies, clinical trials, and insights into the future of care. Kudos to all who helped make the event a success.

2 DOM Faculty Honored at Heersink Endowed Chairs & Professorships Reception
On Tuesday, two faculty from the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Medicine were honored at the Heersink School of Medicine Endowed Chairs and Professorships reception. Professor Gang Liu, M.D., Ph.D., received the Moon H. Nahm Endowed Chair, while Associate Professor Mike Wells, M.D., MPH, was awarded the Endowed Professorship in Airway Biology.
School leaders recognized the honorees and thanked the donors who generously contributed to the endowed positions. Following the ceremony, honorees celebrated with their families and colleagues over refreshments and group photos. Congratulations to all honorees on this well-deserved recognition!
