Biography
Dr. Petitt grew up in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and completed her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences at Auburn University in 2016. Prior to medical school, she spent a year in Madrid, Spain, working as an English language assistant in a local elementary school. She then returned to Alabama to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she earned her MD in 2021. During her time at UAB, she built on her Spanish-language experience by volunteering at health screenings for Spanish-speaking patients. She completed her preliminary internship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA in 2022 and her dermatology residency at the University of North Carolina in 2025. During residency, she was awarded the George K. Hightower award for her commitment to patient care on the consult service along with the Best Resident Presentation at the 2025 North Carolina Dermatology Association annual meeting. She received a global health travel award to spend 1-month in Malawi, where she gained experience with skin conditions in darker skin types and in resource-limited settings. She is passionate about many aspects of dermatology, including the care of patients across all ages, evaluation of rashes, management of skin cancer, and hospital consults, and looks forward to continuing to expand her interests throughout her career.
