Regular full-time and part-time exempt employees in Workgroups A and F (Faculty) receive nine designated holidays and three personal holidays in 2025. Due to special requirements, the holiday policy for regular full-time employees of UAB Hospital and UAB Police Department (Workgroup C) will receive 12 personal holidays, instead of the nine designated and three personal holidays. Part-time nonexempt employees will accrue holidays on a prorated basis and holidays may be scheduled at any time during the year with the supervisor's approval.

Essential Employees
Due to the special requirements of UAB Hospital, the UAB Police Department and the UAB Call Center, employees in those units accrue 12 personal holidays (up to 96 hours) per year rather than three personal and nine designated holidays. These 12 holidays may be scheduled at any time during the year after consulting with supervisors regarding staffing and scheduling expectations.

*Employees will receive extra holidays in December 2025 and January 2026 for the holiday season. Employees of UAB Hospital, UAB Police, UAB Call Center and units who receive personal holidays instead of designated ones will have additional holiday hours credited to their holiday banks, and they should check with their supervisors regarding staffing.
