About the Program

You're a passionate educator, ready to sharpen your skills and develop new competencies in instructional leadership, with a focus on district-level leadership. With this degree, you can meet the qualifications for an Alabama Class AA certificate in instructional leadership and prepare yourself for a variety of administration positions. Many educators with an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership first pursue entry-level curriculum leadership or administrative positions, or district-level executive or curriculum leadership jobs after some years of leadership experience.

Our program provides a foundation for you to become an effective leader. How? We integrated field experiences and assignments into each course that are relevant for current school leaders. Our curriculum gives you to the tools you need for your career. You will take classes that address the adult learning community, organizational leadership, ethical leadership, and law and policy. Best of all, we offer it all in an online format with synchronous Zoom meetings. This delivery model encourages group learning, real time discussions and collaboration on problem-based issues, and fosters lasting professional relationships all from the comfort of your home.

Before you begin, however, you must hold a current Alabama Class A certificate in Instructional Leadership. See our Post-Master’s Certification program, a reduced-hour option, if you need to earn Class A certification.
