Irish poet Joan McBreen will give a reading at the University of Alabama at Birmingham on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, as part of the BACHE Visiting Writers Series. The event, hosted by the Department of English, will take place at 6 p.m. in the Hulsey Recital Hall, 950 13th St. South.
McBreen’s works have been published widely in Ireland and elsewhere abroad. They have also been broadcasted, anthologized and translated into many languages. Her anthology The White Page/An Bhileog Bhán – Twentieth Century Irish Women Poets is in its third reprint.
The BACHE Writers Series presents popular authors who read works and engage in open discussion. Others scheduled to appear include novelists Kathryn Davis on Wednesday, Oct. 30, and Sheri Joseph on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
