James Walts is a Plan I master’s student studying epigenetics, the heritable changes in phenotypes that are not associated with changes in the DNA. His research explores how phosphorylation impacts the many functions of HP1a, within the model organism Drosophila melanogaster. After completing graduate school, he plans to continue his research career utilizing his skills in molecular biology.
